In honor of Dumbledore being out of the closet I decided to make pumpkin juice as the students at Hogwarts are often drinking the stuff and I have no idea what it's like.
My digital camera is dead so you'll have to imagine what it looks like. Sorry.
What went in: Half of a 4ish pound pumpkin One apple
What came out: Thick pumpkin pie colored juice, with a bit of cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice it was VERY good.
I'm thinking I might put the pulp in to some kind of baked good. Cookies maybe.
Also: the seeds need to be toasted.

What went in:

One beet and it's greens - scrubbed Three Carrots - washed 3/4 inch ginger one Orange - pealed
What came out:

1+ glass dark red juice 1/2 cup pulp
Conclusion: Another fantastic color. I tried to make this one root only but it needed sweetener, hence the orange. I don't really like beets, but beets are good for you so I thought I'd try it.... This one is hazeleyedfae approved, and she hates beets. Though I thought it could use a bit more ginger, and/or maybe a bit less beet. This one had the added benefit of turning your tongue bright red and also the explaining to the normal roommate about drinking blood and eating baby pie....
Also: New icon featuring all the pretty colors of juice. Also those are the ones I named: Tropical Sunset, Blood, Swamp Water, and Nuclear Waste.
(if you're reading this on your friends list go to the journal because there are back dated entries, I was a slacker....)

What went in:

3.5 apples - cored and mushy parts cut away Two handfuls spinach - rinsed Three Oranges - pealed One tomato - washed
What came out:

1 glass bright freaking green juice 1/2 cup pulp
Conclusion: The color is amazing! I had noticed that everything I have made included carrots so I decided to see what I could do without them. It wasn't bad, couldn't taste the tomato (which was only thrown in because it didn't make it into the salad). Apples don't add much except for froth, lots of froth. Could use some carrot. :)

What went in:

Two carrots - washed trimmed stem Two apples - chopped and cored Handful of spinach - washed 1/2 cucumber 1" piece of ginger
What came out:
And for today a special: a look inside after juicing!

Full glass of swamp water. 1/2 cup of pulp.
Conclusion: Kind of bland. I juiced the first three and it tasted bland so I threw in the cucumber and ginger. It helped but still wasn't fantastic.
I tried making it the night before and saving it in the fridge for an easy breakfast. The taste wasn't quite as good the next day but it was ok. It separated a lot.
And the answer to if the juicer can be washed in the dishwasher: No.
It has obviously been sterilize by the hot water but the gunk is not cleaner out. It was a pain in the butt to scrub after it had been in the dishwasher. Note: usually it's not very hard only takes a minute with the small brush that came with it.

What went in:
Three small leaves lettuce One large carrot - washed 1/2 cucumber - washed 1 handful spinach Two oranges - pealed
What came out:
1 full cup MUD colored juice. 1/2 cup pulp including large pieced of waxy cucumber skin.
Conclusion: The juice was ok. Not bad but not as good as yesterday. The lettuce was a "this is in the fridge and is going to go bad thing, I figured why not I couldn't pick out the flavor. The cucumber was interesting. Need more spinach. Spinach is good. This time I experimented with refridgerating the juice for later consumtion. I made the juice before bed and drank it for breakfast. The pulpier part seperated out of the juice but it was still fine. The color seemed the same but how do you change from mud colored? I also experimented with putting all the pieces in the dishwasher. I can't tell you the result of that experiment because I didn't check it this morning and am still not home.

What went in:
Two carrots - washed trimmed stem Two handfuls spinach - rinsed One orange - pealed
What came out:
3/4 a glass of rich green juice with orange flecks. 1/8 cup of pulp.
Conclusion: Wow was this tasty. I thought there might have been too much spinach but it was perfect. The orange gave it a nice sweet tang. Definetly for repeating.

What went in:
Three carrots - washed, stem trimmed Two apples - cored 3/4 inch cube of ginger root
What came out:
Over a glass of reddish orange juice almost 1/2 cup pulp.
Conclusion: Tasty though it needs more ginger. Very filling, next time I'll use a smaller quantity. Clean up is much easier if doen right away if the stuff dries on it's far more annoying.

I unpacked it and couldn't wait to try it out.
But what to juice?
The only thing the fridge yielded was three small apples.
Well ok, lets try it out....
What went in: Three small apples - cored

What came out: 1/2 of a glass of thick apple juice 1/4 cup pulp

Conclusion: It's thick and tastes much like fresh apple cider. I need to buy more fruits and veggies. Clean up is fairly easy, they give you a little brush to scrub the stuff out of the filter. I may try putting it in the dishwasher but all the pieces are rather large and would take up a lot of room.
